The new Friday majority

Fridays have become bow-tie day in the state Senate, and the Transportation Committee was in line today. Four of the seven members wore bow ties. Shown are (from left) chairman Mike Vehle, R-Mitchell; Bob Ewing, R-Spearfish; Ernie Otten, R-Tea (wearing a standard tie); and David Omdahl, R-Sioux Falls. Not shown are Jeff Monroe, R-Pierre, who wore a bow tie; and Larry Lucas, D-Mission, and Shantel Krebs, R-Renner, who didn't. Vehle and Ried Holien, R-Watertown, are the Senate's "bow-tie caucus" leaders.

  1. #1 by Bob Mercer on February 15, 2013 - 11:54 am

Official footnote: Sen. Shantel Krebs, R-Renner, later put on her bowtie.
