I came across this bit of news a few days ago while working on other things. The state Board of Education became the state Board of Education Standards on July 1. What I didn’t know until today was the board also reduced its membership to seven; it previously was nine.
No longer on the board are vice president Deb Shephard of Watertown, who previously was director for Lake Area Technical Institute prior to her January 2015 appointment to the state board; and Marilyn Hoyt of Huron, whose membership dated back to her April 1995 appointment by then-Gov. Bill Janklow.
