The new public-opinion survey from Morning Consult / Politico has a lot of back and forth on a lot of current issues. One spot where clarity reigns is whether Chelsea Clinton should be a candidate for public office. The answer from a plurality of voters surveyed is no.
The poll found 27 percent yes and 48 percent no.
The poll of 1,998 voters April 27-30 had Chelsea Clinton, the child of President Bill Clinton and 2016 Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton, with a plurality among Democrats surveyed, with 48 percent yes and 22 percent no.
But she polled at much lower support among the other two groups of voters. Republicans most opposed a candidacy, with 12 percent yes and 74 percent no. Among independents she was at 20 percent yes and 48 percent no.
Republican nominee Donald Trump defeated Hillary Clinton in the 2016 presidential election. The same feeling seems to exist about Chelsea Clinton too.
