The official report will be filed this afternoon, according to campaign manager Tony Venhuizen. What we know unofficially at this point is Lt. Gov. Dennis Daugaard raised $693,438 in itemized contributions during 2009 for his 2010 campaign for the Republican nomination for governor. Dennis also brought in $21,952 in unitemized small contributions.
Where does he stand overall? Dennis went into 2009 with $811,583 cash on hand. He received a total of $750,136 in money during 2009 and spent $283,442. That left him with $1,279,277 cash on hand ending 2009.
None of the five Republican and two Democratic candidates for governor had filed his 2009 report as of Monday. We’ll watch the Secretary of State web site (www.sdsos.gov) later today to see if candidates other than Daugaard file today.
P.S. – We didn’t get a copy of the news release, but two reporters have told me that Democratic Senate leader Scott Heidepriem announced today he raised approximately $339,000 in 2009. He made his candidacy for governor official on July 27.
